Benefits of using a travel advisor

What are some of the benefits of using a Travel Advisor?

There are A LOT of benefits for using one. For starters, I take care of your vacation from start to finish. This saves you time in research, booking, and confidence in knowing that I come to bring you options backed up with experience and expertise. I create a unique experience for you! Some other benefits would be:

  • Your trip being planned for you from start to finish (this can include anywhere from excursion & tour booking, restaurant suggestions or reservations to itinerary building)
  • Having my experienced advice and expertise
  • Pricing is never higher when booking with me, and can be lower
  • In Destination emergency response (I am available for my clients whenever they are in destination, unlike when you book on the internet, or other Monday-Friday only travel agencies)
  • Access to see more prices and quotes at one time (and sometimes early access)
  • Direct contact with the travel suppliers themselves
  • Relationships with business development managers that live locally
  • Access to upgrading of amenities when applicable
  • Emergency Travel response and coordination for you
  • Very quick solution times (I rarely have to wait for answers. I call and get right through, or send an email and the request is made/completed)
  • Saves you a lot of time and effort. This is my full-time business, I am constantly learning, visiting and keeping up to date on everything travel related!
Why is it better to book with you then online myself?

For many reasons! Some were mentioned in the previous above question.  I save you a lot of time researching, comparing, and booking. I visit the properties I recommend, take the cruises I sell, do the agent online courses which keeps me up to date. This takes all my time, and I operate this as a full-time business. I am also very quick, and usually through having a quick phone chat or meeting I can recommend a few suggestions that would be a great fit for your vacation based on you personally!

And let’s be honest- sometimes you just need to talk to a human, and not a robot, or someone you had to wait 3 hours to talk to on the phone that doesn’t understand you!

How do you differ from bigger Travel Agencies?

I add more of a personal and unique experience for people. As I mentioned in the first question, I create an entire trip experience for my clients from start to finish, I am not just a booking agent. I own my business, whereas big agencies hire agents who only work Monday-Friday. To me you are not just a number, you are a person, and your vacation is important to me. I am available for my clients if they are having a travel emergency. Flights/vacations are not only Monday-Friday, and things can happen where you need human assistance.

Some common questions

What do you charge for your services?

My professional services are based on what you will be booking and the depth of how intricate the trip will be. My pricing is definitely fair, and will be laid out upon first consultation (which is complimentary).  As I mentioned in above questions we work with you from start to finish on your trip, and provide a high level of service to our clients. This also allows us to book what is in the best interest of the client. If you are curious about our professional services structure please contact [email protected] and with what you are looking for with your trip.

Can you book all types of travel?

Yes! I can book anything travel related. My professional services allows me to book what is in the best interest of my client!

What types of Travel do you specialize in?

Destination Travel Agency is a full-service agency and can book all types of travel. I do however specialize in Group Travel, Destination Weddings, Honeymoons, and Cruises.

What can I expect working with you?

Very prompt and honest communication. It will never take me longer than 48 hours to respond to someone. Even If I do not have an answer, I will explain that, and inquire about it for you. Some of the benefits of working with me will be listed in “the benefits of working with an advisor” section of this FAQ

Why are there no packages on your website?

Prices and availability of packages, and flights/hotel/cruises change constantly.

What does a group consist of?

If you are looking for an all-inclusive, or hotel/tour package it would be 10 people. If this is a cruise, you would need 8 cabins/16 people.

Do you sell insurance?

Yes, absolutely! Please visit the Insurance page for description on the types. After the pandemic, the one policy I recommending is the Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR), because you don’t have to provide a reason to cancel! It does require to be purchased at time of deposit — but it is best for us to have a chat so I can explain exactly what each policy provides.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept all credit cards, or bank transfers in the form of an e-transfer.

I paid for my travel with one credit card. Can I use a different one for final payment?

Yes! Multiple credit cards can be used top pay for a trip (usually the deposit allow no more than two), but you let me know and I will help set up charging the different credit cards!

Destination wedding questions

What do your services cost?

For my professional services for group destination weddings we start at $350 (plus HST). This is discussed in the initial consultation, where we speak about yourselves as a couple, your wedding/travel vision, and what you are hoping to get out of the trip. This is backed by experience and expertise of me be part-owner of a wedding planning business. If you are looking for more help with the wedding planning aspect, there will be an additional fee, to be discussed at initial consultation. As mentioned above in other questions, I help you from start to finish, and take care of everything.

What is your role as a Destination Wedding Travel Agent?

This will be dependent on which services you choose for me to provide for you. My initial role is to help get the travel plans arranged for the couple, and the group. I help choose a resort/hotel based on your needs, get the wedding date set, and from there you can choose one of my Wedding Planning Services, which is additional to the travel.

How does it all work?

That can vary depending on where you want to get married. I suggest going to the Destination Weddings page and filling out the form located at the bottom of the page. Once you do that, I will contact you, and we can start talking more specifics. There are many steps involved; including scheduling a meeting, quotes for the resort/hotel, and connecting wedding dates. Best to have a chat based on your personal needs.

Once we decide on your travel plans, I build a complimentary Wedding Webpage for you to share with your guests. The page will have the wedding and travel dates, description about the resort with photos and what is included. I will also include a section where your guests can fill out a form to book their space!

Do I need a wedding planner as well?

Not necessarily. This is a personal choice. As Mentioned in my “role” question above, I do offer wedding planning services as well. The wedding planning services I offer do help, because I am connected to the entire process.

Where do you typically plan Destination Weddings?

Please go to our Destination Weddings page to look at our popular destinations.

Are there all-inclusive resorts all around the world?

No, they are mainly in the Caribbean. There are a select few in Southern Europe, but not many.

What is the best time of year to have a Destination Wedding?

That depends on where you want to go of course, but if you are considering in the Caribbean, here is what you can expect:

  • January to March: This is the high season. Prices will be most expensive, weather will be nice, and availability will be lowest because of the popularity of the season
  • April to June, and October to early December: These are nice times if you are looking for a combination of nice weather, and mid-range pricing. This is nice too because these months are not the coldest here in North America, but they are also not the warmest.
  • July to Sept: This is the off season. The prices will be the cheapest in these times. You can anticipate rainy weather in August and September especially.
What is a typical Destination Wedding cost?

That is a varied answer. The main cost, just like a wedding you plan for here, it is dependent on the amount of people you have going. An average destination wedding is anywhere between 25-50 people and could start around the $4K mark. If you would like a more accurate price based on your needs, fill out the form located on the bottom of the Destination Wedding page.

What are the benefits of travelling as a group for a Destination Wedding?

If you are going to an all-inclusive resort, here are some of the benefits:

  • Exclusive and custom group pricing
  • Can be booked over the standard for individual bookings (11 months prior to departure) up to 18 months in advance
  • Bride and groom place a deposit which hold 30 seats, and 15 rooms in the package. Guests then have 90 days after that period to decide if they would like to go, and place a deposit at the price for your group
  • I can provide payment plans for the individuals in the group
  • If you have a bigger group, the bride and groom can receive complimentary credit towards their trips. Each amount is dependent on your quote and number of complimentary offered.
  • I have access to discuss with the wedding resort coordinator about upgrading the bride and groom’s room
  • If your guests place the deposit within the 90 days, it holds their price and does not increase

If you would like more specific overview, please go to the Destination Weddings page and fill out the form.

I have guests travelling from different countries to my wedding, could you help them with their travel and accommodations?

Yes, absolutely! If they are travelling from Canada or the United States, I can put flight and hotel packages together for them. If they are outside of that, I can help with the flights and accommodation separately.
